Support of Excavation (SOE) and Underpinning

Location: Basilica of Regina Pacis, Chapel of St. Joseph and Columbarium; 1230 65th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11219

MAKS Engineers Performed the structural and geotechnical design for Support of the Excavation of the Elevator Pit for the renovation of the Church and designed the Underpinning for affected adjacent footings due to the elevator foundation being established at a lower level than the foundation of adjacent columns and walls; MAKS Engineers developed the Contract Drawings for Underpinning and working drawings for Shoring and Bracings for the excavation of support. Guidelines from the New York City, Department of Buildings (NYCDOB) were followed for the structural and geotechnical design of underpinning.
