MAKS is working as a subconsultant to Michael Baker, the Prime Engineering consultant on the project owned by New Jersey Department of Transportation in the City of Newark. The project includes Rehabilitation of bridge and Approaches, Deck replacement, overhead sign structures, retaining walls for roadway widening section and traffic improvement.
Scope of our services is to design the retaining walls and structural design of Sign Structures. We are working on the design of new Cantilever and butterfly sign structures on the approaches to the bridge and working on developing the General Plan and Elevations for these proposed sign structures. MAKS Engineers are also providing Structural and CADD Support to Michael Baker to prepare the engineering plans and specifications for the project. Assisted Baker team in computing the revised load ratings for rehabilitated bridge structure with replaced deck as per the AASHTO MBE and NBIS standards.
Plans for retaining walls and sign structures are being developed in accordance with the NJDOT Procedures Manual, NJDOT Design Manual for Bridges and Structures and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and in accordance with current AASHTO Standard Specifications for Structural Support for Highway Signs, Luminaires, and Traffic Signal; and NJDOT standard drawings for Sign Structures. The general plans developed sufficiently show all details that would affect the design such as any utilities and/ or right-of-way concerns.
