Rehabilitation of Six Bridges on/over Cross Bronx Expressway, Bronx, New York

December 2016 – June 2021)

MAKS Engineers worked as a sub-consultant to AECOM for the design and structural support services for the rehabilitation of six bridges on the Cross Bronx Expressway in the Bronx, New York City owned by NYSDOT.

MAKS developed the Seismic Design Criteria for the retrofit and design of existing and replaced bridge structures for the referenced project as per the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and the NYSDOT LRFD Specification Blue Pages.

MAKS is also working on the development of Seismic Assessment Reports for the Ramp LCH and the West Farm Road. Generated the model of bridge structures in CSI Bridge structural engineering software and performed Response Spectra Analysis and Push-over Analysis, and calculated Capacity over demand ratio to assess the seismic response.

MAKS is developing the General Plan & Elevation drawings for Sheridan Viaduct carrying Cross Bronx Expressway (CBE), for Ramp OCH to CBE, Boston Road over CBE, and CBE over West Farm Road. We are also working of load rating analysis of these bridges. This load rating analysis is being performed as per AASHTO LRFD Manual for Bridge Evaluation.

We are also providing structural and CADD support to AECOM staff. There are seven sign structures in the limits of project that need to be replaced as part of rehabilitation. Some the sign structures are span type and others are cantilevering type. MAKS Engineers are the designer for these sign structures.
